I am disappointed in the aluminum cups. They are, indeed, pretty and bright but the finish comes off in the dishwasher. Not good to have to remind five year old twins girls, who have wanted the cups so badly, that they must be careful. As a kid growing up. there were no problems. They still are holding up, but not the new ones.

Having an ice cold mint julep in a shiny tumbler is a treat. These tumblers cool quickly and if the air has any kind of humidity it will bead quickly on the sides. Add a little more ice and expect to see frost before you finish sipping your cola. Holding onto the cold, smooth metal too long can make the hand ache like a memory of dangling your legs off the porch and having your grandmother call you a rascal. When your hand comes away it will leave an impression in the frost and you can think about how much bigger you are now.

The aluminum doesn't add a metal flavor to a beverage whether it's a milk shake, cola, lemonade or that mint julep (I haven't tried wine in them yet). They can take a drop and may get a bit nicked if they land on a really hard surface. Sticky stuff should be soaked off and Hand washing preserves the shininess. Dishwashing may make it look like something faded from a long time ago like old Kodachrome photos with images of your parents when they were young.

The sides are straight and not fluted at all like similar tumblers. If you stack them together for storage expect to see a ring about half an inch from the lip from where they rub on each other. Be sure to put them away dry to keep them from getting locked together. If two get stuck together put ice in once and dip the other in hot water, they'll let go.

Great for the patio on a warm evening and holds enough of a beverage to satisfy and it feel great in the hand. Use a coaster or a table cloth, it will save your wood furniture and make your wife happier. Five stars for what it is and I'll buy them again if it strikes me in the future.
